Kim & Marion’s Vestal Engagement Portraits
From Downtown at Vestal to Avery Island
When Kim and I started planning for her Vestal engagement portrait session, I loved that she came with so many ideas and was so into collaborating with me! We exchanged texts on locations, inspirations, and outfit ideas. When we finally arrived on the day I was so excited to put into action all of the care we had put in before. Vestal, in downtown Lafayette, is such a beautiful space and was the perfect place to get those cool bar vibes we were shooting for! Every time I walk in there, I completely forget I’m in Lafayette. It’s like being transported to some chic spot in a bigger city – the kind of place you’d find tucked away in New Orleans or Austin. The moody lighting, the sophisticated bar setup, that whole vibe that just makes you want to order a craft cocktail and stay awhile. If you’re planning your own engagement session and want something that feels completely different from the typical outdoor portraits, Vestal engagement portraits might be exactly what you’re looking for. It’s sophisticated without being stuffy, intimate without being dark, and gives you that ‘we’re somewhere special’ feeling that makes portraits feel like an experience, not just a photo shoot.”
When we were all done downtown, we headed to Avery Island to get a softer, more romantic feeling among the Louisiana landscapes. I love that we were able to get so many vignettes, vibes, and feelings into one portrait session. What might not be apparent in these portraits is that this ended up being one of the hottest days of the year, but these two were such troopers in holding out and still having a great time. Kim is continuing to bring this level of detailed planning into the wedding day, and I know it’s going to be so amazing!!
