When Lisa and Chris reached out about Bayou Rum Distillery portraits, I was excited to shoot at a new place, but even I wasn’t in on the secret yet! These two had already done the thing. They’d eloped in Lisa’s parents’ living room, and now they needed photos to help them share their secret with the world.

Let me tell you about this location. Tucked away in Lacassine, Louisiana, Bayou Rum Distillery & Event Center is one of those places you don’t know about until you know about it. This was my first time photographing here, and I was completely blown away by the visual variety packed into one venue.
We’re talking rustic industrial vibes from the actual distillery, gorgeous outdoor courtyard, and architectural details that add lovely weathered texture.
The staff there was great to work with! We had the space to ourselves for our appointment time! No crowds, no rushing.

What I loved about this session was the purpose behind it. Lisa and Chris didn’t need traditional engagement photos or a big wedding day timeline. They needed images that told their story. Images beautiful enough to serve as the announcement that they’d secretly tied the knot.
No pressure, right?
But watching them together made it easy. There’s something incredibly freeing about photographing a couple who’s already married. The nervous energy is gone. What’s left is just…them. Comfortable, connected, and clearly obsessed with each other.
