A Bold Fall Wedding at Le Magasin Rouiller | Shelby & Quinn

Shelby and Quinn knew each other in high school but didn’t get together until they both ended up working at the same hospital years later. Second-chance romance — that alone is worth throwing a party for.

Shelby hired Kerri at Threaux Events for month-of coordination, and Kerri told me she was blown away by how dialed in Shelby’s vision already was. She’d done her homework, hired a killer vendor team, and knew exactly what she wanted. That combination — a bride with a clear vision and vendors talented enough to execute it — is what made this Le Magasin Rouiller wedding come together so well.

Le Magasin Rouiller: A Newer Acadiana Gem

Le Magasin Rouiller is one of the newer wedding venues in the Kaplan area, and Shelby and Quinn’s October celebration showed off exactly why it’s generating buzz. The main reception space features warm wood ceilings, an exposed brick accent wall, and crystal chandeliers — and when rain moved the ceremony indoors, the space transformed beautifully to hold both. The draped white fabric at the back of the venue created a secluded dance floor section for later in the evening, giving guests an intimate space to celebrate once dinner wrapped up. The property also has cabins on site where each wedding party got ready separately, keeping the first look a true surprise.

Going Bold with Color

From the start, Shelby wasn’t interested in playing it safe. Her palette leaned into fall: deep burgundy dahlias, burnt orange roses, warm peach tones, pops of gold, and cream anemones to soften the edges. Mia at Root Floral brought it all to life. The tables were arranged in an S-curve with cascading arrangements on the ends and different centerpiece variations throughout. If you’ve been pinning moody, romantic fall wedding inspiration, this is the one.

The Chapel

The chapel is a white board-and-batten building with a copper steeple and rustic wood barn doors. Inside: bright white shiplap, tons of natural light. We were able to get so much done in this new space! From the first look to all of the portraits, this was a great place to wait out the weather. We used vintage chairs as props, switching them out between groupings, and brought in floral meadows to anchor the space and pull the color palette into the portraits. We photographed the whole family and wedding party like a fashion editorial — the kind of portrait that feels like art, not just documentation. A lot of these were captured on 35mm film, which felt right for a wedding with this much intention behind it.

Once the rain cleared, we moved outside to the front of the chapel for golden hour. Shelby’s veil was catching the breeze and the light was perfect. Some of my favorite shots from the whole day.

The Details: Lana Del Rey Meets Louisiana

Shelby’s aesthetic was vintage Hollywood with a moody, romantic edge — think Lana Del Rey if she got married in Acadiana (instead of down the bayou). The satin gloves, the draped champagne fabric creating intimate moments throughout the reception, the retro “just married” cake with tiny cats climbing up the cake (a nod to their pets). Custom heart-shaped sunglasses and tambourines for guests. Nothing was an afterthought. For the reception, I switched to a black and white disposable camera — it just matched the vibe.

Instead of a traditional cake table, Shelby used columns at varying heights with candles and floral arrangements, and meadows anchoring the base. Way more dynamic than a single flat surface. She also set up a table displaying wedding photos from both of their parents and grandparents — a small detail that meant a lot.

Quinn brought his personality too. His groom’s cake was a whiskey bottle on a live edge board and barrel, and he cut it with a samurai sword. They skipped the champagne toast and raised their signature cocktails instead: Old Fashioned for him, Lemon Drop for her. It’s those kinds of details that make a wedding feel like theirs.

The Reception

Following up the first dances and cake cutting, guests moved to the dance floor, and things got rowdy! Hospital coworkers, family, friends — everyone packed in. I pulled out a black and white disposable camera to catch the chaos. It’s one of my favorite ways to document a reception once it really takes off, and this one absolutely did.

Vendor Love

This day came together because of an incredible team:

Shelby and Quinn — this one’s staying in my portfolio for a long time! Thanks for letting me and Kerri be part of it.
