Thanks to the Louisiana weather we had weeks with rain with no end in sight. We decided to shoot Amanda’s bridals at the Grand Opera House of the South and suddenly the rain seemed like a blessing in disguise. I’m so very excited to announce that I’m going to start doing vendor highlights. There are so many talented vendors that I get to work with and that make my job easier and I think that you should know about them!

To kick off my new series I’m featuring Hannah with Southern Couture Weddings. Hannah is very talented and friendly and would make an amazing addition to anyone’s wedding day. We got together (on a very windy day) to chat about her business.

What are some of the benefits of having a wedding planner?

A Wedding Planner is a teammate there to assist the Bride throughout the entire planning process. Planners have planned many different events with different clients and can give you their professional experience and opinions on anything from colors to how divorced parents should be sat for the ceremony.   A Planner can also help with etiquette issues and come with a wealth of knowledge since it is not the first experience with planning a wedding. 

What is the difference between week of coordination and full service planning?

Week of Coordination starts roughly one month before the wedding.  The Couple already has everything planned and complete so the Planners job is to confirm all details, create timelines for the wedding day and be the point person for anything needed on the wedding day. This allows the Bride and her mom to enjoy the day getting hair and makeup done instead of worrying about vendor arrival and setups or anything that may go wrong.

Full Service starts soon after the engagement is accepted.  A Planner will recommend vendors based on the spending plan and style the Bride desires, setup appointments with these vendors and follow through handling all correspondence though the wedding day. A planner also knows what items are necessary and what can be done without saving the Bride time and money on unneeded items.   A planner can be a sounding board for any questions, how to or whats next throughout the process as well as making sure to do lists are being complete at the appropriate times throughout the engagement.

What makes your services unique?

I have over 12 years event planning experience and have worked with over 500 couples. I also offer Honeymoon or Destination Wedding Planning to any of the Sandals Resorts located throughout the Caribbean.  

What is your favorite part of the wedding day?

One of my favorites parts is right after the Bride and Groom are married and walk out of the ceremony.  It is such a special time for the couple and I get to witness that moment.  All of the nerves are gone and they have finally become Mr. and Mrs. which is the goal of all the planning.

What is the number one tip that you give your couples?

Enjoy your day. It goes by so fast, try to take time throughout the night to actually enjoy everyone their who loves you and is celebrating you.
